Ganesh Chaturthi is very important in Hinduism. This popular festival is celebrated during Shukla Paksha Chaturthi during Bhadrapada (August and September) month.

It is believed that Lord Ganesha was born on this day. This holy festival associated with the religious faith of Hindus is celebrated not only in India but also in the whole world by Indians with joy and happiness. Especially in Maharashtra, Ganesh festival is celebrated with much fanfare.

Ganesha is the child of Lord Devadidev Mahadev Shankar and Mother Parvati. Ganesha’s elder brother’s name is Kartikeya. And his sister’s name is Ashok Sundari. The names of Lord Ganesha’s wives are Riddhi and Siddhi. Vighna Harta Ganesha has two sons named Labh and Shubh. According to the scriptures Lord Ganesha is said to be the deity of planet Ketu.

Lord Ganesha is called Gajanan due to his elephant-like head. He is also called Mangal Murti. It is believed that worshiping Ganesha increases knowledge, wealth, intelligence, happiness and prosperity and all kinds of troubles, troubles and sorrows are destroyed.

Ganesh festival lasts for 11 days. The immersion of the idol of Lord Ganesha is done on Anant Chaturdashi. Many emotional devotees even cry tears of joy when Ganesh Utsav comes to an end, and pray to Lord Ganesha for early next year. From the place where Ganesha is installed, the idol is carried with great respect to the place of immersion with musical instruments, dancing and singing. The installed idol of Lord Ganesha is immersed in the sea or holy river.

A short story of Lord Ganesha

Ganesha, the son of Lord Shankar and Mother Parvati, was born with a normal face. One day while going for bath, Mother Parvati ordered her son Ganesha to guard the house. As per the mother’s orders, Ganesha started guarding. At that time Lord Shankar arrived at the door. And he said that this is my home, let me enter the house. Obedient Ganesha did not allow him to do so. That’s why Lord Shankar, in anger, severed Ganesha’s head from his body with his trident.

After a while Maa Parvati came out of the house. And he told the truth to Lord Shankar that while going to Mount Kailash, he himself had asked me to produce a child through yoga, from that knowledge this son of ours was born. Lord Shankara then sends his messengers instructing them to go and bring back the head of the first dead creature found with its head in the north direction.

The messengers go and return with the head of a dead elephant. Shankar puts the elephant’s head on Lord Ganesha and Ganesha comes alive. It is on this divine occasion that Lord Ganesha gets the blessing that Lord Ganesha will get the first place in every kind of worship. Every worship will be considered incomplete without worshiping Lord Ganesha.

A short story about Ganesha’s vehicle “Mushak”.

Sage Soubhari, who lived on Mount Sumeru in ancient times, went to the forest to collect wood one day. At that time his wife Manomayi was engaged in housework at the Ashram. Suddenly at that time an evil Gandharva eyes the sage’s wife.

Fascinated by Manomayi’s beauty, he enters the ashram and holds Manomayi’s hand. At that moment Soubhari reaches back to Rishi ashram. Seeing the wickedness of that Gandharva, Rishi Soubhari curses-

You, like thieves, have entered my ashram and tried to behave away from my wife, so you will appear on earth in the form of a “mouse” and thieves will steal your food and feed your stomach.

When Gandharva realized his mistake, he fell at the feet of Sage Soubhari and begged for forgiveness. The sage said that the curse given by me cannot fail, but your glory will be in becoming a mouse on earth and suffering the curse.

The sage said that Lord Ganapati will incarnate in the form of “Gajmukh” in the ashram of sage Parashar in the Dwapara Yuga, then you will become his vehicle, and will always be honorable.
